Ava Dufner Tribute
I have been asked to add this to the site for extended family to view. This was made for Ava's funeral, it contains photos submitted by her children and their spouses, grandchildren and their spouses/significant others, great-grandchildren, and Ava's sisters.
The video is quite long and also contains the photos from Ava's electronic photo frames she had at her bedside in the nursing home.
The video finishes with the procession her immediate family took her through the Dufner Farm. Ava is then laid to rest at St. Henry's Cemetery next to the love of her life, Melvin Dufner. 3/27/2022
Reunion Wrap Up
The 2021 Dufner Reunion is in the books. We had over 200 people participate in the 3 days!! IMPRESSIVE! Thank you all for taking the time to participate. I have added to the gallery all the photos I have received from the photographer. You should be able to click on the photo and download it if you wish. Remember to mark your calendars for the next Dufner Reunion: June 20-22, 2025. Let's work on the relatives who didn't come this time. Please feel free to contact me if any questions or problems with the photos. Until later..........................Sue
6/15/2021 Update
Schedule time change for Saturday June 26, 2021. Mass will be said at 4pm with supper at 6pm. Pictures will be taken all through the reunion.
Fr. Basil, priest at Max & Garrison, will be saying Mass. Fr. wants to include in his Mass pamphlet names of family members that we would like the Mass said for. Please email any names of deceased or sick/injured relatives to beetabaga@yahoo.com by June 23rd. Please indicate if deceased. Fr. Basil is originally from Glendive MT, and knows the Dufners from that area. He is excited to do this for us, and his sister and brother-in-law may also in attendance.
Fr. John Paul, former priest at Glenburn and Lansford, may also attend on Saturday. He now is in Bismarck, and was very close to Melvin and Ava Dufner, visiting the farm when he could. He also graced the family by officiating their renewal of vows on their 50th wedding anniversary in a private ceremony held in the farm kitchen.
Sue and Kathy need help from all of you on a project. We are in search of aerial photos of the Dufner farms, past and present, including Great Grandpa Nicholas' farm. Please email these pictures, labelled as to whose farm it is and their descendants to driver2please@yahoo.com.
Supper will be provided for those who are available Thursday June 24. Menu: sloppy joes, chips, veggie tray.
RSVP'S are now at 115!! Still not too late to change your mind about coming to the reunion.
6/17/2021 Fr. John Paul WILL NOT be attending, due to a baptism scheduled for Saturday.
6/10/2021 Reunion Update
2 weeks until the reunion!! Plans are going well, and we will be ready! Here is the latest update:
RSVP'S received to date: 100!!! It is not too late to RSVP, the caters are adding extra food.
So far we have 6 campers with relatives, there still is room for more.
Guests will start to arrive on Thursday June 24th, so feel free to come early.
Breakfast/Brunch will be served on Friday and Sunday approximately at 11 am. Saturday breakfast will be approximately at 9 am, this will be a lighter breakfast due to the catered noon meal.
Golf coarse availability, both 9 hole: Parshall 701-862-3899 and New Town's Edgewater Country Club 701-627-9407.
Parshall's Paul Broste Rock Museum has world wide recognition and is definitely worth a look. Check out Paul Broste Rock Museum – Parshall, North Dakota - Atlas Obscura website.
Kathy Dufner Zenz will be setting up a Zoom meeting Saturday June 26th at 1pm online for relatives unable to attend the reunion. Ava Rennie Dufner will be part of the Zoom meeting. If you know of anyone who would like to be included, please contact Kathy per email beetabaga@yahoo.com.
Tim Zeltinger, a family friend and a photographer, will be taking pictures throughout the reunion. He will be putting them on the website after the reunion for everyone's use.
A refrigerated trailer will be available.
A 15 passenger van will be used to shuttle to the boat docks, golf coarse, and rock museum. If there is any interest in a tour of the area, that can also be done.
Silent Auction items are needed and welcome.
We have received some rain in the last couple of weeks, if this continues evening bon fires may be a possibility. Other evening events planned: Pontoon rides (weather permitting), Karaoke, dancing, poker (bring your change), board games, cards.
Curt & Sue are blessed to have such great friends and neighbors. TWENTY of them have agreed to help us with the reunion!! We thank them SO MUCH!
5/7/2021 Reunion Update
The time is getting close for our Dufner Family and Friends Reunion. Curt and I hope you are all as excited as we are to get together again after so many years.
Here are the latest updates:
RSVP's need to be in by June 1, 2021. This is to allow enough time for our caters to order the food. So please include the number of people in your party.
RSVP's can be done by using the website, call or text Sue 701-441-9054. Please leave a message if no answer. You may also email Sue at driver2please@yahoo.com, you may also messenger me on Facebook.
To date so far I have 50 RSVP's, with relatives coming from as far as Florida and California!
We have rented 4 acres of land next to our place, so we have lots of room for people with campers, RV's, and parking. I have talked to a couple of camper/RV owners that rent them out. They will set it up and remove it for as little as $200. They sleep 6-10 people, depending on the camper/RV for $75-$200/night, depending on the size. If interested in this, let Sue know and I can set it up for you. I do recommend doing this within the next couple of weeks to be sure we can get them.
Please let Sue know if you need help making lodging plans/reservations.
To date, we have not had any moisture and are in a severe drought with a burn ban, so bonfires will not be done, we do have evening events planned. Also the Parshall Rural Volunteer Fire Department will have a tanker truck here, plus a neighbor is bringing a large water tank, just in case.
An ice cooler which will have bagged ice added daily is being provided by the Parshall Rural Volunteer Fire Department.
We have some young men who will be helping everyone park their vehicles, and shuttle you with side by sides to the main gathering area. The main gathering area is ground level, for those who feel more comfortable getting out there, there is plenty of room and your vehicle can be parked from there.
A kids activity area will be available, also lifeguards every day.
One of the evening attractions is wild horses visable from the pontoons.

Reunion update
I plan on updating the website off and on until the reunion, so please check back off and on.
3 pontoons and captains will be available all 3 days to give rides. A signup sheet will be available each day at the sign in table.
3 fishing boats and captains will be available all 3 days. Tackle, poles, and bait will be available. Fishing licenses can be obtained online on the ND game and fish site: https://gf.nd.gov. A signup sheet will be available each day at the sign in table.
Due to the lack of moisture so far, the bonfires may not be possible, other activities are being planned if this happens.
Due to Covid concerns, we have had questions about RV and camper rentals available in the area. I have found 2 websites to look at: https://www.outdoorsy.com/rv/rentals and https://rvshare.com. Most of these sleep 6-10 people at a very reasonable rate. Also, some even offer delivery, set up, and pick up for a price. We have plenty of room to park campers and RV's.
Also available will be 3 campers/ice houses that sleep 3-5 people each. These are being provided by our wonderful friends and neighbors.
If any one else knows of an RV, camper, or camper/ice house for rent, please contact Sue at 701-441-9054 or email me at driver2please@yahoo.com. Thanks.
